White label social media services, compared on evidence

Reselling social media is the easiest capability an agency can add and the easiest one to be quietly ruined by, because the work is visible to your client every single day. A white label partner is not a supplier of deliverables, it is a stranger writing in your client's voice under your name, and the failure mode is rarely a missed deadline. It is tone, a tin eared post during a bad news week, or a slow reply to a comment that turns into a complaint. This page shows what the providers in our index publish about price and minimums, how the delivery models actually differ, and the questions that separate a partner from a content mill.

How to choose a white label social partner

  1. Establish who talks to the client, and never blur it. Decide whether the partner is invisible, appears as your staff on calls, or is disclosed as a subcontractor. All three work. What fails is ambiguity, where a client discovers a third party mid engagement and reasonably wonders what else they were not told.
  2. Test the writing before you sell anything. Buy a paid pilot for one real client account and read every post before it publishes. Voice is the whole product in social, and no portfolio proves it. A partner unwilling to run a small paid trial is telling you how they handle scrutiny at scale.
  3. Separate content production from community management. Scheduling posts is a production task that scales cleanly. Replying to comments, complaints and direct messages is a live service with a response time attached. Price and staff them separately, and agree what happens outside business hours before the first crisis rather than during it.
  4. Fix the approval loop and the calendar. Agree how far ahead content is drafted, who reviews it, how many revision rounds are included, and the cut off after which a change costs extra. Most margin in reselling is lost in unbilled revisions, and most client frustration comes from approvals arriving too late to matter.

What white label providers publish

Our index records what each provider states publicly, with the date checked. White label is one of the more transparent segments we track, because the buyer is another agency and agencies compare on rate cards. Many providers publish per account monthly tiers keyed to post volume and the number of platforms, which makes shortlisting unusually straightforward compared with client facing categories.

The published tier is still a floor. Paid social management, ad spend, design beyond templates, video editing and community management outside business hours are commonly separate lines. Ask each candidate for a fully loaded monthly figure for a representative client rather than the entry tier, and compare those, because the entry tier is designed to win the comparison rather than to describe the engagement.

The risks that belong to you, not the partner

Under a white label arrangement your client has a contract with you and nobody else, which means the compliance exposure lands on your side of the table. If the partner posts a client testimonial without the required disclosure, publishes an unsupported claim, or runs an influencer collaboration without clear sponsorship labelling, it is your name on the account. The Federal Trade Commission's endorsement guides set out plainly that material connections between an endorser and a brand have to be disclosed clearly, and that expectation applies to whoever pressed publish.

So write the standards into the partner agreement rather than assuming them: who reviews claims, how testimonials and reviews are handled, what the policy is on sponsored content labelling, and who indemnifies whom if a post causes a problem. Ask a candidate how they have handled a compliance question before. The good ones have a documented answer because they have been asked.

Questions people actually ask

Should I tell my clients I use a white label partner?
There is no single right answer, but there is a wrong one, which is letting a client find out by accident. Many agencies disclose that some delivery is subcontracted without naming the partner, which satisfies most clients and removes the risk entirely. Check your own client contracts first, since some, particularly in regulated industries, require notification or approval of subcontractors handling their accounts.
How do I keep quality consistent across clients?
With a brief that is genuinely specific and a review step you actually perform. Give the partner a voice document per client with real examples of approved and rejected phrasing, banned topics, and the names of people who may be quoted. Then read a sample of posts every week rather than only when a client complains. Quality drifts slowly in social, and the first person to notice should be you.
What does white label social usually include?
Typically a set number of posts per month across an agreed number of platforms, basic graphic templates, scheduling and a simple performance report. Commonly excluded and separately priced: paid campaign management, ad creative, video editing, influencer coordination, and any response handling with a service level attached. Confirm each of those explicitly, because assumptions about inclusions are where reselling margin disappears.
How fast should a partner respond to comments?
Fast enough to match the promise you made your client, which means you should set the standard before signing rather than accepting whatever the partner offers. Agree business hours coverage, a target response window, an escalation path for anything sensitive, and who is reachable at a weekend. Then test it during the pilot by posting a question yourself and timing the reply.
