SEO company Georgia options compared on published evidence

Georgia's search market is really two markets. Metro Atlanta is competitive enough that local service categories behave like a national contest, with established firms, substantial budgets and review counts that take years to match. Outside the metro, in Savannah, Augusta, Macon, Columbus and the smaller markets, the same categories are often winnable with modest, disciplined work. A provider list that treats those as one problem will mis price both. Our index records what each firm publishes about itself, the starting price where stated, the minimum engagement where disclosed, the services listed and the clients named, so a shortlist starts from checkable facts rather than from a sales call.

How to choose a search partner in Georgia

  1. Establish which market you are competing in. Metro Atlanta in a competitive service category is a different budget and horizon from the same category in a smaller Georgia market, and both differ again from a business selling statewide or nationally from a Georgia address. Write down your actual customer geography first, because it determines whether you need local presence work, content and authority work, or both.
  2. Ask for a client with your geography and category. Not a Georgia client, a client with the same competitive picture. Ask what they rank for now, what the position was at the start, and how long it took. Then check the claims yourself in a logged out browser. Firms that are strong at metro competition and firms that are efficient in smaller markets are usually not the same firms.
  3. Inspect the ninety day plan as artefacts. A prioritised technical issue list with owners, a query and intent map tied to named URLs, a content calendar with specific pieces, or a documented review generation process are all things you can hold up at the quarterly review. Strategy, alignment and optimisation are not. Ask what will exist in ninety days that does not exist today.
  4. Put ownership and exit in writing before the first invoice. Your company owns the Google Business Profile as primary owner, the analytics property, Search Console and the tag manager container, with the agency added as a user. Content and source files are yours. Call tracking numbers must be portable. Agree the notice period and the contents of the handover pack while everyone is still friendly.

What our index records about each firm

Every entry is read from the firm's own website and dated. Where a starting price or minimum engagement is published we record it. Where a firm names clients we record that. We record the services listed rather than the ones a firm might accept, and nothing is estimated, supplied by the firms, or paid for. It is a comparison of disclosure as much as of capability, which is a narrow claim and a checkable one.

A firm with no published price is not thereby worse. Scope varies widely and quoting per engagement is normal practice. What the list gives you is a market range, a sense of who discloses what, and the ability to enter a first conversation already knowing which questions this firm has answered publicly and which you still need to ask.

Metro Atlanta and the rest of the state need different plans

In competitive metro categories, review volume and velocity, proximity to the searcher and the depth of existing competitors' content set a high floor. Winning usually requires either a long horizon and consistent investment, or a narrower target: a neighbourhood, a specific service, a customer segment the incumbents ignore. A proposal that promises broad metro visibility inside a quarter is not describing this market.

In smaller Georgia markets the picture inverts. Competitors are often running incomplete profiles and thin websites, so a complete profile, a genuine review process and a handful of well built service pages can move the phone within a quarter at a fraction of metro cost. The failure mode here is paying metro rates for a problem that a smaller, disciplined engagement would solve, which is exactly what a published price range is useful for spotting.

The claims that should end the conversation

Guaranteed rankings first. Google's own guidance on hiring a search professional warns explicitly against anyone promising a specific position, and no firm controls the ranking systems. Ask instead what the firm expects to move in ninety days, and what evidence would tell them their plan was wrong.

Then link packages sold per unit, private blog networks and anything priced by the link, which Google's published spam policies treat as manipulative link schemes with the consequence landing on your domain. And in any review dependent local category, treat a proposal that involves incentivised or generated reviews as disqualifying: the Federal Trade Commission's rule on consumer reviews and testimonials addresses exactly that, and the exposure attaches to the business benefiting from the reviews.

Questions people actually ask

Does the agency need to be based in Georgia?
Not for the work itself. Search systems do not know where your agency sits and remote firms compete on equal terms. Local presence helps where the engagement needs somebody on site, photography, staff interviews, in person review gathering, or where genuine knowledge of a specific Georgia market shapes the content. Treat it as a tie breaker rather than a filter.
How long before we see results?
Profile and review work can move local map visibility within weeks. Technical fixes on an established site typically show in impressions within a month or two. New content on new pages is a matter of months, and longer in competitive metro categories. Agree one leading indicator to judge at ninety days and one lagging indicator that decides renewal.
What should a monthly report actually contain?
Search Console impressions, clicks and average position for a named set of target queries, on a property you own; what was shipped that month with links to it; what is planned next; and what did not go to plan. Third party rank tracking is directional and fine as context. A report that shows only tool rankings and traffic totals is describing the weather rather than the work.
Should we buy local presence work or content work first?
If your customers are within driving distance, profile completeness, review generation and a few well built service and area pages come first, because they are cheap and they move the phone. Content and authority work follows once that base is solid, or comes first if you sell statewide or nationally, where proximity is irrelevant and coverage of the queries is the whole game.
