Choosing a chiropractor marketing company on evidence
A chiropractic practice buys marketing for one measurable thing: new patient appointments from people inside a short driving radius who are ready to book. Everything else on a proposal is a means to that end and should be argued for on those terms. The industry has an unusually high density of vendors selling packaged programmes to practices, which is not a criticism of packages, but it does mean the buyer needs to know what is inside one before comparing prices. This page describes the three layers of work that actually produce appointments, the advertising rules a health practice carries that a general retailer does not, and how to vet a provider before a retainer starts.

How to buy chiropractic marketing without buying a template
- Fix the local layer before anything else. An accurate business profile, consistent name, address and phone across the web, correct hours, and a page for each location. Google publishes structured data guidance for local businesses so a practice can hand search engines its address and service area in a readable form rather than leaving it to be guessed.
- Build a real page for each service you want cases for. Adjustment, sports injury, prenatal care, auto accident recovery and decompression are different searches with different intents and different values. One combined services page competes for none of them well. Ask a candidate which pages they would build and why, before you ask what it costs.
- Get the review flow running and keep it honest. Steady genuine reviews move local visibility and booking rates together. The FTC has a rule addressing fake and misleading reviews and testimonials, so incentivised or written for you reviews are a legal exposure, not a shortcut. Ask exactly how a provider solicits reviews and what the request says.
- Measure booked appointments, not form fills. Agree that the reported number is new patients who attended, tracked from call recording and the practice management system, rather than any form submission. Practices routinely pay for lead volume that never converts because nobody defined the metric at the start of the engagement.
The claims rules a chiropractic practice carries
Health related advertising is held to a higher evidentiary standard than ordinary retail advertising, and the practice, not the agency, is the advertiser. The FTC publishes compliance guidance for health products and claims which sets out that objective claims about treatment outcomes need competent and reliable scientific evidence behind them, and that testimonials do not substitute for that evidence. A patient story describing an unusual recovery, published without qualification, is exactly the shape of claim that guidance addresses.
This matters commercially as well as legally. A provider who writes copy promising to cure conditions is creating an exposure that lands on your licence and your practice, and is also writing pages that read as overreaching to the exact patient you want. Ask any candidate who signs off on medical claims, whether copy is reviewed by the practice before publication, and what their process is when a client asks for a claim the evidence will not support.
What to compare between providers, and what to ignore
Compare the disclosed minimum, whether the work is delivered in house or resold, whether the contract has a notice period that traps you, who owns the website and the ad accounts at the end, and whether the provider will name practices you can call. Our index records what agencies publish about price and minimums on their own sites with the date checked, so the first pass of that comparison can be done by reading rather than by sitting through demonstrations.
Ignore the count of channels in a package. Practices are frequently sold social posting, video, newsletters and directory submissions bundled around the one or two activities that actually produce appointments, because a longer list justifies a larger fee. Ask which single component the provider would keep if the budget halved. The answer tells you what they believe works, and comparing that answer across three candidates is more informative than comparing their proposals.
Questions people actually ask
- Is a chiropractic specialist vendor better than a local general agency?
- A specialist knows the patient journey, the service pages that convert and the claims boundaries without being taught, which saves months. The trade off is that specialists often deliver a standard programme across many practices, so your site can end up resembling every competitor in the next town. A strong local generalist can be better value where your need is a clean profile, a fast site and a review flow. Ask both which pages they would build first.
- Should I sign a twelve month contract?
- Length is only a problem when it is paired with a long notice period and agency ownership of your assets. Search work does need runway, so a term commitment is not unreasonable in itself. Negotiate the exit rather than the length: a defined notice period, your ownership of the website, the domain, the ad accounts and the analytics property, and a handover of raw access rather than a final report.
- What can a chiropractor legally say in marketing?
- Objective claims about outcomes need substantiation, and the FTC's health products compliance guidance describes the standard as competent and reliable scientific evidence. Patient testimonials do not replace that substantiation, and state licensing boards add their own advertising rules on top. In practice this means describing your approach, your training and what a visit involves, and being careful with any sentence that promises a result.
- How quickly should new patient numbers move?
- Local profile, review and booking path fixes can show within weeks because they act on a surface already visible to searchers. Content and authority work runs on a slower clock, normally months. Google's starter guide makes the same distinction, noting that some changes take effect in hours while others take months to appear. Ask a candidate to say which of their proposed activities sit on which clock, in writing.
