White label SEO companies, judged on what they publish
White label SEO is search work performed by one company and sold under another company's name. The buyer is usually an agency: a web studio, a PR shop or a full-service marketing firm that has demand for search work and no search team. Because the end client never meets the fulfilment partner, the entire relationship rests on things the reseller cannot easily see, which makes published evidence unusually valuable here. This page explains how the model is priced, what separates a partner from a subcontractor, and how to shortlist without spending a quarter finding out the hard way.

How to shortlist a white label partner
- Decide what you are actually reselling. Fulfilment only, where you keep strategy and reporting, is priced and managed very differently from a full white label programme where the partner also writes the strategy and the client-facing reports. Name which one you want before you take a single call.
- Separate the per-client floor from the setup fee. Most published white label pricing is a monthly per-client rate plus a one-off onboarding charge, and the two are quoted on the same page by agencies that publish at all. Compare both, and compare at the client volume you will really send in month one, not the volume you hope for.
- Read the content and link sourcing in writing. Google's spam policies name buying or selling links for ranking purposes and scaled content abuse as violations, and sites that breach them may rank lower or not appear at all. Ask the partner to describe how content is produced and how links are earned, in writing, before you put a client's domain behind it.
- Test the reporting your client will read. Ask for a redacted sample of the exact report your client would receive, not a sales deck. If the partner cannot produce one, you will be rewriting reports every month, and that hidden labour is what usually destroys the margin the model was bought for.
How white label SEO is priced
Published white label rates behave like the rest of the agency market: a minority of companies publish anything, and those that do are usually selling to smaller resellers who price-shop. Rates are quoted per client per month, sometimes with volume tiers that step down as the reseller adds accounts, and almost always with a separate onboarding fee for the first audit and setup. The index records the figure each company publishes with the page it came from and the date it was checked, so a rate that moved is visible as a change rather than as a contradiction.
The gap between a published floor and a real bill is wider in white label than elsewhere, because the floor usually assumes a small local site with a short keyword list. A client with a large catalogue, several locations or a migration in flight is a different job at a different price. Ask which tier the partner would place your typical client in, then compare that tier across companies rather than comparing floors.
What separates a partner from a subcontractor
Three things, and none of them appear on a rate card. The first is escalation: when a client's rankings drop, does a named person at the partner join a call, or do you file a ticket. The second is disclosure policy: some partners will speak to your client under your brand and some refuse, and both are workable, but only if agreed before a client asks. The third is portability, meaning whether the accounts, documentation and content live somewhere you can take with you if the relationship ends.
Reputation risk runs the other way in this model too. Your client sees your name on the work, so a partner who cuts corners on links or ships scaled, low value pages is spending your reputation, not theirs. That is why the sourcing question belongs in the shortlist stage rather than in the contract review.
Questions people actually ask
- What does white label SEO cost per client per month?
- Among companies that publish a figure, per-client monthly rates span from a few hundred dollars for narrow local work to several thousand for competitive national programmes, usually with a separate onboarding fee. The index shows the median across verified agencies with a published price, and links each figure to the page it was read from.
- Do I have to tell my client the work is outsourced?
- That is a commercial and contractual decision rather than a search one, and it should be settled with your own client agreement before you sign a partner. What matters operationally is agreeing in advance whether the partner will ever speak to your client, and under whose name.
- How do I check a white label partner's link building?
- Ask in writing how links are obtained and get examples. Google's spam policies prohibit buying or selling links for ranking purposes and treat advertorials with unmarked paid links as violations, and sites that breach the policies may rank lower or not appear at all. A partner who will not describe the method is describing the answer.
- Is white label cheaper than hiring an in-house SEO?
- It is cheaper at low volume and stops being cheaper somewhere between five and fifteen active clients, depending on your rates and how much account management you absorb. Model it against the fully loaded cost of a hire, including the reporting time you currently give away for free.
