Comparing SEO companies in Las Vegas on published evidence

Las Vegas is an unusual local search market. A large share of the commercial demand comes from people who do not live there, the hospitality and events economy runs on a different calendar from the residential trades, and the city carries a long tail of providers selling to visitors, conventions and relocating households at the same time. That mix means an agency's experience in one Las Vegas vertical says little about another, and it makes published evidence more useful than local reputation when you are shortlisting. This page sets out what separates the firms in this market, what moves a retainer here, and how to test a proposal so the comparison rests on what each firm will commit to in writing rather than on who has the loudest office.

How to shortlist a Las Vegas SEO firm

  1. Sort the market by who they actually serve. Firms here tend to split into three groups: local trades and professional practices, hospitality and events businesses selling to visitors, and national clients who happen to be headquartered in Nevada. Ask which group the firm mostly serves, because the tactics, the seasonality and the competitors barely overlap.
  2. Ask for disclosed pricing before the discovery call. Firms that publish a minimum engagement or a starting retainer are giving you a real comparison point and filtering themselves honestly. Where nothing is published, ask for the minimum in the first email. A refusal to name a floor before a sales meeting is itself useful information.
  3. Check the local evidence, not the logo wall. Ask for two Nevada clients you may contact, and for a before and after drawn from the client's own analytics or search console rather than a slide. A logo wall of national brands tells you nothing about whether the firm can move a Clark County map result.
  4. Agree the leading indicators before month one. Write down what should have moved by day ninety: indexed pages, profile actions, non brand impressions, enquiries. Agreeing these at the start turns a later disagreement into a factual check rather than an argument about effort and hours spent.

What moves a retainer in this market

Vertical moves it most. Legal, medical, injury, home services and gaming adjacent categories are among the most contested queries anywhere, and a firm quoting the same monthly figure for a personal injury practice and a pet groomer is not pricing the work honestly. Location count moves it next: one office in Summerlin is a different programme from five branches spread from Henderson to North Las Vegas, because each address needs its own page, its own citations and its own review flow.

Two quieter factors matter here more than in most cities. The first is the visitor economy. If a meaningful share of your customers are searching from out of state before they arrive, your programme needs national or origin market visibility as well as local map presence, and that is a broader scope than a purely local retainer. The second is the state of what you already have. Sites in this market are often several agencies old, carrying redirect debt, duplicate location pages and abandoned tracking, and cleaning that up is real work that usually lands in the first two months where it is easiest to hide inside a monthly fee.

How to read the proposals against each other

Put the shortlist into a single table with four columns: the minimum term, the monthly figure, the named deliverables per month, and what you own at the end. Most of the apparent price gap between two firms closes or widens dramatically once that table exists, because one is including content production and the other is not, or one is retaining the site on its own platform.

Then apply the same three filters to every proposal. Does it promise a ranking position? Nobody can guarantee one, so that is disqualifying rather than ambitious. Does it claim any special relationship with a search engine? Google states that it does not evaluate or endorse third party services, so badges and certifications from vendors are marketing rather than evidence. And does the reporting end at rankings, or does it reach enquiries? A report that never names a business outcome is a report designed to survive review rather than inform it.

What the first ninety days should look like

Expect repair before growth. A competent start is an audit that names specific broken things, a fix list with dates, consistent business details across the site and the major listings, tracking rebuilt so later claims can be checked, and the first tranche of pages aimed at queries you agreed rather than queries the agency finds convenient. If the first month is a strategy deck and nothing shipped, ask why.

Expect also a conversation about reviews, because in this market the map results decide a large share of local enquiries and reviews decide the map results. The correct process is asking every customer, making it easy, and responding to all of them. It is not buying, incentivising or writing them. Any firm offering to supply reviews is offering a legal exposure the Federal Trade Commission has explicitly targeted, and should be removed from the shortlist on that basis.

Questions people actually ask

Is a local Las Vegas agency better than a remote one?
Local knowledge helps for map results, neighbourhood pages and review culture, but it is not decisive. Relevant vertical experience and disclosed process matter more. A remote firm that has run twenty campaigns in your trade usually beats a local one that has never touched it.
What is a realistic minimum retainer here?
It depends far more on your vertical and location count than on the city. Contested legal and medical work starts well above a single location trade programme. Ask each firm for its published minimum and compare those figures rather than assuming a market rate exists.
How long before results show?
Map visibility can move within weeks once profiles, categories and citations are corrected. Competitive commercial queries usually take several months. Ask for a timeline that separates the two, and for leading indicators to judge at ninety days.
How do I check a firm's claimed results?
Ask for read access to a demo analytics or search console property, or for exports from a client who has given permission. Screenshots from third party ranking tools are the weakest evidence available and should never be the only thing on offer.
